Calling All Playwrights

Twenty Something Theatre is seeking new one-act plays by emerging and/or young playwrights to be part of a series of play readings to take place in conjunction with our fall programming. Check out our 2015 fall productions here: www.twentysomethingtheatre.com/news 

Dedicated to new play development, over the past 5 years Twenty Something Theatre has produced the World Premiere’s of Prodigals (2011) and Us & Everything We Own (2013) by Sean Minogue. Currently in development is Julie McIsaac’s The Out Vigil set to premiere in March 2016 at the Firehall Arts Centre.

GUIDELINES:
  • Plays must be no longer than approximately 60 mins in length
  • Plays must not have been previously read, staged or performed publicly; however, a play that has been through a workshop process and/or had a public reading but has been significantly rewritten since will be accepted.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18-35 OR must not have had a play previously produced by a professional theatre company in Canada. 
Each play submitted will receive written feedback from Artistic Producer Sabrina Evertt and/or Associate Artistic Producer Brian Cochrane.

Between 4 - 8 plays will be selected to receive a public staged reading that will take place on selected dates between October 23rd – November 29th at the Havana Theatre following the performance of one of our main stage fall productions.

All plays must be hard copies submitted via mail, accompanied by a reading/administration fee of $20 made out to Twenty Something Theatre Society, and sent to:

Please include name, email and phone number along with a 75-word bio about your background & experience as well as any history of the play, if applicable.

You many submit more than one play; however, each play is required to have a separate reading/administration fee of $20.

Submissions must be postmarked no later than July 24, 2015.

Tender Napalm - Auditions

Twenty Something Theatre is holding auditions for our upcoming production of Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley, directed by Sabrina Evertt.

We strongly encourage submissions from actors of all cultural backgrounds.

Description: 

Explosive and poetic, Tender Napalm weaves a compelling tapestry that re-examines and re-defines the language of love. Two people with an intense physical and emotional connection struggle to survive in the face of catastrophe and explore the process of grieving and healing without cliché or clumsy sentiment.

Casting:

Man – 30-something, any ethnicity

Please note: There is a large movement component to the piece. Strong movement skills are an asset.

Audition Date: Friday, July 3, 2015

Contract Dates: September 29, 2015 thru November 8, 2015
